The City of Guelph is planning to replace the 17-year-old playground equipment that is currently in Exhibition Park, and they would like our feedback to shape the proposal.
A public consultation meeting was held Nov 26th at Victory School. Topics discussed included Themes (e.g. nature, castle, etc), Elements (e.g. swings, teeter-totters, slides etc), Accessibility (e.g. ramps, surfaces), and Fitness (e.g. exercise stations, signage). The ideas and requests that emerged during the public meeting included an emphasis on natural materials and natural urban design, honouring the history of the park, including traditional play equipment elements, offering sand and water experiences, planning more seating for adults, adding a drinking fountain & public notice board, and ensuring inclusion of all ages/abilities/generations.
There is still time to provide your feedback to the Community Service department about what is important to your family. Please email email@example.com and indicate the park name, your contact info, and your thoughts. Feedback will be collected until December 5th, and that will help inform the 3 possible concepts that will be presented at a public meeting in the New Year.
